This Friday, me, Anna and Aleksa headed to Somerset House to check out the Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore exhibition. For those of you who don’t know who this is, Isabella Blow was one of the pioneers in British Fashion, mentoring and helping many famous designers such as Alexander McQueen and Julien Macdonald. She was famous for her crazy and innovative dress sense, and she loved hats! She was also a magazine editor, and she discovered many successful models such as Sophie Dahl and Stella Tennant. She committed suicide in 2007, but the exhibition showed nothing of this tragedy- only inspirational photos and videos from her life at the forefront of fashion. We weren’t really allowed to take any pictures inside the exhibition, but you know me, always naughty, so I took some anyway. The exhibition featured clothes that Isabella wore or inspired, as well as letters and videos from and of her. I’ve posted a video that was shown, that I found so beautiful, made by Ruth Hogben. At Somerset House you will also find the Courtauld Gallery, where they have more Old Master Paintings, also worth checking out. The architecture of Somerset House is really beautiful and we played around in the courtyard with our cameras- Aleksa took tons of nice pictures and I’ve posted some of them here for you! When I’ve gotten over the “Monday” feeling, perhaps I’ll tell you some more gossip from my weekend, but for now, hope you enjoy this 🙂 xx
